Book a hearing test

Booking a hearing test with Amplify Hearing is easy and stress-free. Whether it’s your first hearing test or your annual check-up, our experienced audiologists are here to guide you through the process.

Your hearing test – what to expect

First, we’ll get to know you and discuss your concerns. Next, we’ll check your ears and test your hearing. We’ll explain your results and advise you on your options. We can demonstrate available hearing solutions and help you decide which is best for you.

The non-invasive and painless hearing test typically takes about an hour and simply requires your focus to hear quiet sounds. And apart from listening, that’s about as hard as it gets! If you have any questions, have a read of our hearing test FAQs.

Who can get a hearing test?

Anyone aged over 18 can get a hearing test, and if you’re aged 55 or over, you’re entitled to a FREE hearing loss test and healthcare check. This is because hearing loss is largely, but not always, age related. We recommend that you get your hearing checked every year. You can book your hearing test without a GP or ENT referral.

Getting to know you

When you book a hearing test with your local Amplify Hearing audiologist, they will conduct a step-by-step evaluation of your hearing loss health, address any worries you may have, and provide answers to your questions about hearing aid solutions.

Your audiologist will take into consideration your hearing concerns and determine the best hearing solutions to improve your hearing. If you wish, bring a family member or friend to support you during your hearing loss test.

Checking your ears

During your hearing test, your audiologist will carry out a thorough evaluation of your ear health.

They’ll use an otoscope to examine the inside of your ears, searching for any blockages, ear wax build-up, or infections that might be impacting your hearing or causing discomfort. If any issues are detected, your audiologist can refer you to a GP for further investigation.

Talking through your results

Once your hearing test is complete, your audiologist will share the results with you by showing you an audiogram – a graph that plots your hearing. The audiogram will show you whether you have any hearing loss, and if you do, the level of loss, which can be mild, moderate, severe or profound.

If, after conducting a thorough hearing test and hearing health check, our audiologist finds you are suffering from hearing loss, we can help you choose the best hearing aid solution or treatment for you. Our Audiologist will make recommendations from all the leading brands, based on your individual hearing loss, your lifestyle, technology needs and your budget.

Once you’ve decided which hearing aid suits you best, we will book you in for a fitting appointment, usually within 2 weeks, to fit your personalised hearing aid, including custom-made models, and talk through your rehabilitation and how to get the best from your new hearing device.

Demonstrating the available solutions

Your audiologist will demonstrate the level of hearing you could achieve from your various options. You are under no obligation to purchase a hearing aid solution, and you can be assured that the hearing advice you’re given, as an independent audiology provider, is free and unbiased.
